During my second year of University, I had the opportunity to direct my own project, after a successful pitch.
For A Night is a 2D animated short film about the nostalgia of music. The film follows Evelyn, who visits a disco for the elderly and is taken back in time by the music, showing us a glimpse of her life, throughout the years.

For A Night is a 2D animated short film about the nostalgia of music. The film follows Evelyn, who visits a disco for the elderly and is taken back in time by the music, showing us a glimpse of her life, throughout the years.
Working as director on this project has helped me develop my skills as a producer by giving me insight into what it really requires to lead a film and how to best assist and smooth the production of a film.
I also worked as the sole background artist on the project, we had an extremely small team and as I knew the style of backgrounds we wanted for the film it seemed easiest to create them all myself. The style was fairly plain and muted in order to contrast against when Evelyn goes back in time and the backgrounds become entirely abstract.
