This film was created for a live client brief, for my second year of University. The film shows the story of the children who were evacuated from London, during World War II, to the small Cornish town of Mousehole, and highlights some of the challenges they faced.
This was the first opportunity any of us had had the chance to work with a client which of course came with its own complications for production. It was also the first project I had ever worked as producer on so it was definitely a challenge to find my footing. Learning how to communicate with a client was a new skill I was able to develop during this project. As well keeping the team on track to ensure we were ready for our client screenings was crucial.
We were able to travel to Mousehole and see the town that the children were taken to understand what the children would have been faced with. We also got inspiration from the local area and were able to take our own reference images for the backgrounds in the film. We also met with a woman closely related to the evacuation operation, who had commissioned the film.
